5 Easy DIY Projects using 1×2’s
An easy way to introduce yourself into DIY projects is a fun accent wall! Below are just a few ideas that are great for beginners! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite projects using 1×2 boards which are easy to find at any hardware store!
1. Plant Shelves
I used scrap wood and stained them all to match. I spaced them all apart evenly for a ¾” piece of wood to slide between them. Nail these boards into your studs and they will be plenty secure to hold small shelves! Because shelves are only about 3” wide, they are a perfect spot for plants!

2. Slat Wall
There is nothing complicated about this project, except where you will put it! For this project I did rip down a sheet of plywood to make my own 1×2’s to save some money. But this is such an easy accent wall to do in any space! I used a 1×2 turn sideways to get the perfect spacing between boards.

3. Geometric Accent Wall
This is the first project I did in our house, and these are so easy! There is no set design, so you can make it however you want. Because this project is so easy, it’s a perfect project for all levels of DIY’ers.
4. Diamond Wall
This is my favorite wall I’ve ever done. This is still beginner friendly just requires a little more planning. I actually traced this whole wall out in pencil first before I started.

5. Mountain Wall
I did this for my nephew, and he loved it! This was so simple. Make sure to stick to only 45-degree and 90-degree angles to make this project beginner friendly!
